The first stretch of the journey!

Well, we’re off! One packed minivan left Roanoke on Wednesday evening to begin the journey to school. This past Sunday was my last Sunday at St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal, and Wednesday my last full day at St. John’s Episcopal.

Both were bittersweet departures – two wonderful sacred spaces with wonderful congregations. I’ve learned a great deal working at and becoming part of both – St. E’s as music director for 10 years (except for two years I spent in Memphis at Church of the Holy Communion) and St. John’s as communications director for two years after returning from Memphis.

Two weeks earlier, I closed my studio door at Radford University for the last time, the day governor’s school ended.

Phil and I are spending several days with my parents in Harrisonburg, and on Sunday I move into my dorm at Virginia Theological Seminary. Over the coming seasons, I’ll be writing about the journey here.
